Honor 9: Complete Test of Honor’s “Light Catcher”!
Since its launch in Berlin on June 27, we have had time to become familiar with the Honor 9 … Design, power, photo quality and autonomy, here is the complete test of the Chinese smartphone.
A few days ago, meltyStyle made you share your impressions after taking control of Honor 9. We were told of our favorite for its design, which reflects the light as its nickname “Light Catcher”. Since then, we had the opportunity to spend more time with the flagship killer … The time has therefore come to draw up a balance on him, highlighting his defects as well as his qualities. Regarding design, our enthusiasm has been confirmed … The Honor 9 glass back, its curved edges and its gray glacier color are top of the range, making it one of the most attractive appliances on the market. Its compact size – it has a 5.15 inch screen – makes the handset nice, although it is slippery enough. As for its Touch ID drive moved to the front, it is very easy to access and reacts quickly. You understood, regarding the aesthetic, Honor was not wrong … We would have just liked that the ratio screen-size is a bit higher.
Regarding the screen, no big surprise … The Honor 9 has an IPS LCD panel with a Full HD definition, which allows to display images of good quality without being at the level of the AMOLED nevertheless. You will be able to watch your favorite series without any problem, especially since the smartphone embeds a very powerful processor. Already used by the Huawei Mate 9, Huawei P10 and Honor 8 Pro, the SoC Kirin 960 offers high performance. Combined with a 4GB RAM, it allows to open the apps and launch the videos quickly. It remains a bit below the OnePlus 5 if one believes the speed test that was published on YouTube, but does better than most of its competitors in the market. As for its storage capacity of 64 GB (expandable by microSD), it is enough to keep a maximum of memories. Until then, we are not bad!
The Honor 9 is equipped with a dual 20 + 12 megapixel rear sensor, which allows it to make excellent quality shots when the lighting conditions are optimal. The colors are bright, the details neat and the noise very rare, as you can see in the photos above … In this situation, it is therefore one of the best photophones market, especially in its price category . But when the sun gives way to gray or at night, then we see the quality of photo decline … Contrasts are much less well managed, which is a bit annoying to immortalize evenings with friends or concerts for example . But the Chinese smartphone is globally gifted in this specific area, especially since it offers plenty of filters & other features to indulge. We also validate its 8 megapixel front sensor, which allows a very good quality of selfies.
The audio quality of the Honor 9 is also one of its strengths. The manufacturer has equipped its smartphone with the Huawei Histen 3D technology, which accentuates the bass for a deeper sound. And even by increasing the volume, the rendering is always as clear and pleasing to the ear. Enough to hang your subway journeys and your evenings. Lastly, let’s talk about one of the major purchasing criteria for young people … Autonomy. The Honor 9 has a battery of 3200 mAh, which allows him to hold a day and a half by being copiously solicited. Its 5.15-inch screen is not energy intensive, and it’s really nice not to have to check the level of its battery to make sure it will hold. To sum up, it seems that the Honor 9 available on vMall is a complete smartphone, whose qualities are well worth its price of 399 euros (after ODR). Now that we have it, we will not let go!
