The modeling agency The Muses, in Quebec, is made to usurp its account Facebook a few weeks ago. The scammers use the logo and the name of the company to address young girls, and solicit photo sessions in lingerie.

“A girl wrote to me to ask me if a Pauline Yon working at our agency. She asked him to carry out sessions of a photo shoot for a lingerie brand. I immediately reported this fake account to the team Facebook because I anticipate the worst” is concerned about the owner of the modeling agency Muse, Marie-Philippe Cyr.

The young entrepreneur has also asked its community to Facebook to report the account so that it is closed permanently, in vain. After reviewing the profile, the team at Facebook determined that it was not against community standards.

This is not the first time that scammers use Facebook for malicious purposes. “It is common because it is easy to take a logo and pretend to be someone. Often, these are offers that are too good to be true,” says Steve Waterhouse, an expert in computer security.

The founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, had recognized in the beginning of the year that the team of Facebook was too many errors in the reporting of malpractice and abuse. He wanted to rectify the situation.

The modeling agency Muse exists since 27 years and manages 350 models, all between the ages of 2 and 70 years of age. The employees never take contact with new recruits on Facebook. “First, it is the client who contacts us,” she says. Subsequently, we will contact our models by phone and by e-mail.”
