MONTRÉAL | Strong of the support of the national office, the leader of the Bloc québécois Martine Ouellet reiterated that she intends to remain in position at the head of the training sovereigntist and that the door is always open to members who are resigning.

“I do not resign. I’m not giving up. I have received a mandate and I am there for activists,” said Ms. Ouellet in an interview on the airwaves of LCN, Sunday. The day before, the national office has stated its support for the chief, after a meeting of about seven hours, held in Montreal.
Last Wednesday, seven of the ten members of the Bloc have announced their resignation in protest against the leadership of Ms. Ouellet and stating that they would not go back to the party as she would be the leader.
“I laid on the table a proposal on Wednesday to members who have resigned on developments at the level of the operation […] with proposals of mediation. They have not even bothered to look at them,” said the interested main, reflecting on the events of the last days.
Ms. Ouellet has argued that they have tried to discuss with parliamentarians resigned, without success. “I met them. Some, I’ve even tried to join them. I didn’t even get a call back. Yes, the opening, it is there. At the national office, they were invited to come in and exchange. They refused the invitation,” explained the politician, who holds that “the door is always open” if the members wish to return to the ranks of the Block.
Martine Ouellet has also complained he was the victim of “personal attacks” and “slander” over the last week. “I think that people should be a bit careful on the personal attacks, because a given time, that’s going too far”, she argued.
