The records of about 75 projects (including the impact studies on the environment) are put in line on Friday morning by the ministry of sustainable Development, the Environment and the Fight against climate change (MDDELCC).

Now, the citizens will no longer need to wait several months before reviewing the studies made when a dam, an airport, a railroad or a factory is built near their homes. It will only take a few days for the documents to be put online by the department.

Last night, at midnight, entered into force the new Law on the quality of the environment (EQA). It clarifies that a public register should be created and that it should identify all documents enabling them to assess the impact on the environment.

The new law also specifies the 37 categories of projects that must be subjected to a procedure of assessment of the impacts on the environment, including the exploitation and exploration of hydrocarbons.

Examples of records posted online Friday morning

    • Phase 3 of the development of the promenade Samuel-De Champlain (Québec)
    • Exploitation of the graphite deposit (300 km north of Baie-Comeau)
    • Increase of the cattle herd to the farm-Jules Side and son (Saint-Lambert-de-Lauzon)
    • Enhancement of a part of the road of the Language-of-Earth (Muskie)
