In Croatia, two people drowned during the festive swim : In the World : Vladim

Two people were killed in Croatia during the Christmas swim. The tragic incident occurred yesterday in Rijeka.

As it became known, a group of guys decided to spend new year’s swim at the local hotel. This event was organized for the fourth consecutive year. In the swim was attended by 15 persons, the rescuers made them a warning about strong winds, but the action is all still took place, despite the observation of experts.

Swimmers in costumes of Santa Claus successfully plunged into the freezing water, but to get out again they failed – high waves throwing men to rocks and slabs of concrete. Rescued swimmers, firefighters, during this operation two emergency personnel were injured.

I suffered as well the participants of the Christmas swim, one of them is in serious condition, doctors are fighting for his life. Two elderly men to save and failed. Lifeguard, with sturdy physique, I have noticed that when a considerable weight and height of waves easily threw it to the side.
