During its passage to the municipal court on Wednesday morning, the activist has termed “the theatre in order to appeal to mayor Labeaume” any deployment around the time of his arrest in a restaurant in Montreal, on the 29th of August last.

“The behavior of some judges, the police and the crown shows me that it is not possible that I could get a fair trial. Their actions of the past week, it was out of the ordinary. The term referred to, the refusal to be released and the repetition of the exaggerations of Régis Labeaume,” observes Mr Singh.

The activist also asked the judge Paulin Cloutier that kept the investigation from disclosure of the evidence, “including the links between the mayor of Quebec city and the police.”

Singh believes that the mayor Labeaume has a direct influence on the actions of the police, as well as the crown and the judges. “The mayor has influenced the behavior towards me for the charges, which are pretty minor. Normally, this is only a promise to appear in court,” he argued.

Singh was arrested for obstruction and impersonation, during the demonstration of 20 August, in Quebec city. It was identified as being the hockey player Michel Goulet. He was wearing a badge with his portrait, during his time in municipal court.

The accused has also asked to be proven, by a third person, the absence of a link between the mayor, the employees of the City of Quebec and the far-right groups, because he is afraid that his address is known to the authorities – can be disclosed “to people who don’t like it”.
