He said that discussions are ongoing to find him a constituency, but it rejects for the moment the idea of being present in the region.

He justifies this choice by the reconciliation policy, the family, a theme on which he intends to address if he is elected. The founder of the party Option nationale had left the executive in 2014, citing the desire to see them grow up her two twins, aged two years old at the time. His return is now facilitated by the fact that his children have aged, he added.

    Special advisor

While waiting for the next elections, the economist will act as advisor to the chief and the vice-leader of the PQ, Jean-François Côté and Véronique Hivon, on the topics of metropolis and entrepreneurship.

In the event of the victory of the PQ in the next election, Aussant would take care of a secretariat to commission studies on the sovereignty of Quebec.

Jean-Martin Aussant left the PQ in 2011 criticizing the softness of the head of the parti québecois of the time, Pauline Marois, about the accession of Québec to sovereignty.

“It is the only party that was founded on the idea of making Quebec a sovereign state”, however, insisted Mr. Aussant this afternoon at a press conference, which was held at the headquarters of the PQ.

The rumor of a return to the PQ was however persistent for a few weeks. At the time to announce that Nicole Light will not be a candidate in the elections of October 2018, Jean-François Lisée had also said that “the door is open” for the return of the ex-mp.

Jean-Martin Aussant was elected under the banner of the PQ in Nicolet-Yamaska in 2008. After having slammed the door of the party in 2011, he founded the Option nationale party, a party focused on the independence of Quebec, which has had some success with young sovereignists.

But it was defeated under the banner of national Option in Nicolet-Yamaska in 2012.

Last December, Option nationale, has agreed to merge with Québec solidaire. Moreover, the current spokesperson for QS, Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois, has led a tour of Quebec with Jean-Martin Aussant in the framework of the initiative Must talk.

Often referred to as the “spiritual son” of Jacques Parizeau, Jean-Martin Aussant is then returned to work at Morgan Stanley Capital International in London, until the death of the former leader of the parti québecois in 2015. At the funeral of Jacques Parizeau, Jean-Martin Aussant had called at the “end of exile”, these are “geographical or intellectual”, announcing at the same time his return to Quebec.
