This is the last night for Operation red Nose and this will definitely be one of the busiest of the year, while the organization expects its volunteers to perform not less than 3000 raccompagnements.
Although the number of raccompagnements seems high, it is not expected to be the busiest time of 2017, as there have been Friday evenings rather in charge due to office parties.
This evening, however, is one of the most complicated in terms of logistics, since all calls are made after midnight. Fortunately, many of the volunteers are ready to respond to the high volume of calls.
The cold could also complicate a little the work of volunteers because they will have to warm up the cars of people they later walk. Drivers will also have to adapt their driving to the road conditions, the cold reducing the grip of the tires on the pavement.
“This evening, at the greatness of the province, is expected to have 2000 volunteers. It is 500 teams of designated driver who will be depending on to bring Quebecers safely at home,” said David Latouche of Operation red Nose.
For those who would like to give of their time, it is not too late to register on the website of the organization.
“Those who might not have plans for the evening of 31 December, they are invited to live a unique experience,” concluded Mr. Latouche.
The central telephone red Nose will be open from 19 a.m. until 3 p.m.
