Loto-Québec wants to show its new millionaires how to say no to requests from their relatives and colleagues envious by immersing them in a video in 3-D.

A mother who dreams of a condo in Florida, a brother-in-law also a financial adviser who wants to put your money or a colleague at work, ready to fly in Europe at your side, here are the scenarios that parade under the eyes of the lottery winners.

Loto-Québec is the first lottery in North America to offer its winners $ 25,000 or more to put on a pair of glasses on which is affixed a cell phone. In the video, the actors directly address the audience to ask him what he intends to do with the money he has just won.

“Not all of the people ill-intentioned, but it is specific examples of situations in which the winners may find themselves […] boards are easier to remember when we see them “, said Richard Jones, director of client services.

The scenarios are based on situations experienced by past award winners surveyed by Loto-Québec. For example, a sister who wants to start a business with your money or a colleague who encourages you to take your pension.

The video suggests the winner to take his time before spending it and say yes.

    Useful for intimidation

Loto-Quebec has invested $ 100,000 to produce the video, made by the Fondation Jasmin-Roy. This last, anti-bullying, wants to use it to develop similar projects in secondary schools or with the elderly.

“The technology for virtual reality has not just its place in video games,” adds Jasmin Roy, saying that immerse the viewer in a situation that stimulates empathy.

Very realistic and far from the caricature, the video served as a warning to André Bergeron of Laval, who has recently pocketed a half-million dollars.

“We hear so many stories of winners who lose everything and I don’t want to go there,” says the sexagenarian for whom the amount earned is a cushion for his retirement.

He remembers in particular work colleagues, who all had gained 600 000 $. One of the winners, he said, had bought a house for half a million and two BMWS, that she has had to sell to avoid bankruptcy.

This is why the video also suggests that you make wise choices with his money, says the winner, who has not forgotten the trials and tribulations of the infamous family Lavigueur became a millionaire thanks to Loto-Québec.
