MONTREAL – A fire has heavily damaged several industrial buildings, in the night of Sunday to Monday, in the borough of Montréal-Nord.

According to preliminary information, the fire started Sunday evening around 22: 30, after a vehicle entered the garage of a building located on Forest street, near the avenue Éthier.

The arrival of the fire brigade, the fire had already spread to the whole building as well as two other adjacent buildings.

A hundred firefighters were mobilized to combat the blaze. During the night, around 2 a.m., the fire had still not been mastered.

No evacuation was necessary and no one was injured.

“According to a witness, the vehicle would be deliberately entered the garage door of the building before it took fire,” said Jean-Pierre Brabant, spokesperson for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).

For this reason, the investigation was transferred to the police. Investigators in the fire of the SPVM will be on site in the morning to analyze the scene and know more about the causes and circumstances of the fire.

The owner of the building will be met by the police officers during the day, Monday, to see if a conflict could be at the origin of this event.

The boulevard Industriel has been closed to traffic, between the boulevards Pie-IX and Viau. Police officers have visited the site to redirect motorists.
