The City of Montreal is going to suspend the controversial regulation on pitbulls, one of the promises of the mayor Plant during the last election campaign.
The decision will be ratified at the executive committee of 20 December, announced to the City by way of a press release on Friday.
All the articles of the regulation on the animal control specifically designed for the type dogs pitbulls will be thus suspended.
Established by the former administration of mayor Coderre, these articles prohibit new pit bull type dogs on the territory and added additional requirements to the current owners of this type of dog, such as a special permit and additional inspections.
“In addition, the City of Montreal will not issue more than one type of permit guard dog so that it reflects the changes announced”, the statement said.
More details to come.
