    The official opposition wishes to address the sexual misconduct by adding a full chapter on the issue in the code of ethics of the elected officials of the City of Montreal.

    “With the collective awareness that we have lived with the hashtag #MoiAussi, and given the severity of this issue, it is essential that the City of Montreal take all means to tackle this issue “, said the leader of the opposition Lionel Perez, who will be presenting at the next city council a motion on the subject.

    This new chapter of the code of ethics detailing the methods of termination and the measures of protection of victims, and would define the term “sexual misconduct” to include the notions of harassment, touching and ” other reprehensible behaviour “.

    The opposition also wants to impose on all elected officials mandatory training on the issue of sexual misconduct.

    Lionel Perez explained Monday in a press conference want to go further that the new draft of the code of ethics considered at the Commission of the presidency of the council, who wishes to add only an article about the harassment, which includes sexual harassment.

    This new version will be presented to the executive committee on Wednesday and must be approved by the city council, reported Monday by Radio-Canada.
