SHERBROOKE The City of Sherbrooke has disbursed approximately $ 115,000 in two years to broadcast council meetings on television. This is what has been learned VAT News, due to a request for access to information.
The cost, which varies from one session to the other, is estimated to be 2600 $ for the year 2017. It includes the capture and editing for broadcast later, which are made by the company Cinécam Production.
“I’m not a specialist in web-broadcasting or television, but I was told that there were costs that exceeded”, confessed Steve Lussier, mayor of Sherbrooke.
Since the new municipal administration took office last fall, she decided to air the council meetings live on the web. This new way of doing nevertheless entails additional costs, ranging between 1149,75 $ and 1629,78 $.
Conscious that the costs incurred are high, the City decided to purchase its own equipment. It has acquired two cameras and a console, which will be operated by a technician. The latter will come into service next April, but the contract has not yet been signed.
“By being more autonomous in its catchments, the City will save more,” explained Sarah Corriveau, director of communications at the City of Sherbrooke.
From the month of April, the board meetings will be broadcast for two hours rather than one, on the waves of MAtv.
