An international group of Japanese University conducted an unusual experiment, which came to the conclusion that there is a direct relationship between body mass index, waist circumference and speed of the meal, reports Rus.Media.
During the study, scientists processed the data collected during medical examinations of more than 59 700 people between 2008 and 2013. All experiment participants were asked seven questions about their way of life, and the speed with which they take food.
The results showed that among those who eat slowly, were obese, with 21.5%. While those who ate at an average speed, obesity was diagnosed in 30%, and among those who ate fast – 45%.
It is also noteworthy that the size of waist circumference also increased in proportion to the speed of eating. However, scientists note that the study was conducted only among people suffering from type II diabetes. In addition, among the subjects there were few older people. Also during the study did not take into account the level of physical activity and consumption of daily meals.
