The giant european aeronautics announced, Monday, by the end of the day, that it is acquiring 50.01 % of the partnership’s Aircraft (C Series umbrella program of the aircraft manufacturer in quebec.
“The complaint is without foundation, Boeing and the imposition of duty of 300 % on the Series C closed access to the u.s. market and weakened the program”, recalled the minister Anglade, referring to the successive decisions taken by Washington to impose countervailing duties and anti-dumping aircraft from the C Series.
“In this context, the partnership we are announcing today represents, in our opinion, the best solution to ensure the future of the 2,000 jobs of the C Series and the sustainability of the programme”, she continued. Overall, the aerospace industry employs 40 000 people in Quebec.
By partnering with Bombardier, Airbus will reassure potential customers for the aircraft, aircraft CS100 and CS300. “We are therefore confident that several orders which have not been confirmed will be in the medium term”, found Ms. Anglade.
The niche market in which lie the planes of the C Series represents a potential of 6000 aircraft sales over the next 20 years, said the minister, who believes that Bombardier will be able to draw its pin from the game thanks to Airbus.
With this partnership, we will extend to 5 years, i.e. until 2041, the duration of the agreement-in continuity that ensures the future of the 2,000 jobs of the Mirabel plant, in addition to maintaining the registered office of the limited partnership in Montreal,” added the minister Anglade.
