The coroner’s Office has announced the appointment of Me Pascale Descary, from next Monday, as the chief coroner of Quebec. She succeeds ms. Catherine Rudel-Tessier takes his retirement.

The Council of ministers has made his appointment a few months after he was entrusted with the mandate of the coroner permanently in September 2017. Prior to joining the Office of the coroner, Me Descary has served the function of ombudsman of the University of Montreal. The lawyer is also a psycho-educator training.

The staff of the Office of the coroner has praised the work of Me Rudel-Tessier.

Remember that the Office of coroner is a government agency whose mission is to seek, independently and impartially, and the causes and circumstances of deaths occurring as a result of negligence or in obscure or violent circumstances, in order to contribute to the protection of human life.

“It is with humility and enthusiasm that I accepted the mandate that I had just been entrusted by the Council of ministers. I thank the minister of public Safety, Martin Coiteux, I have come to trust and have proposed my candidature for the exercise of these functions,” said Me Descary.
