Passengers on Air Transat leaving the cold in montréal for the heat and the beaches of the dominican Republic have had to exercise patience after that one of them would have disrupted their flight on Friday evening.
The flight TS982 that took off around 17: 45, Friday, “has had to make a u-turn and go back to Montreal after about 40 minutes of flight,” said Saturday, Debbie Cabana, a spokesperson for the montréal-based air carrier.
“A passenger’s disruptive behavior verbal aggressive has caused this return to Montreal. The decision was taken by the commander for reasons of security,” stressed the spokesperson, stating that the individual has been handed over to the police authorities.
The Montreal police confirmed Saturday that a report of the intervention has been drafted, while stressing that the individual did not resist when he was escorted out of the plane.
In total, 183 passengers were on board the aircraft, a Boeing 737. They went to Puerto Plata, on the north coast of the dominican Republic.
In addition to the delays caused by the passenger problem, travellers have had to wait for a new crew to take over.
“Once in Montreal, we had to make a change of crew in order to comply with the regulations regarding hours of service. This change has caused a total time of a little over 5 hours,” explained Ms. Cabana.
The spokesman for Air Transat has added that some passengers were given a $ 15 credit to be able to eat at the airport while waiting and that all passengers have received a travel credit of $100.
