Plane crash: Transport Canada cut the wings of Island Express Air

    VANCOUVER – Transport Canada announced, Wednesday, that it shall suspend the licence of the airline Island Express Air after an incident in Abbotsford, British Columbia.

    Last Friday, a twin-engine King Air the company had gone out of track because of snow conditions, while 10 people were aboard the plane. Two passengers had to be transported to the hospital.

    The federal ministry has decided to suspend the licence of the carrier because of this incident, as well as because of violations received by the company under the Rules of the canadian aviation.

    “Given these threats to the public safety, Transport Canada will not allow to Island Express Air to resume commercial air services unless the company demonstrates that it can maintain its activities in constant compliance with the regulations in the field of aviation safety”, said the ministry in a press release.

    Based in Abbotsford, Island Express Air provides scheduled flights between six cities in the west coast and Vancouver island, including Victoria and Vancouver. The company also allows you to book a plane to go to the State of Washington, including Bellingham and Seattle.
