The Coalition avenir Québec (CAQ) has announced on Tuesday that Chantal Rouleau will be its candidate in Pointe-aux-Trembles in the next provincial election this fall.
The one who is currently mayor of the borough of Rivière-des-Prairies—Pointe-aux-Trembles is one of the few candidates Team Coderre to have resisted the wave of Valerie Plant, in the municipal elections of last November.
“The nomination of Chantal Rouleau sends the message loud and clear to Montreal, the CAQ is serious : Montreal, can and must be part of the change on the 1st of October next,” said the leader of the CAQ, François Legault, when the announcement of candidacy.
The mayor has indicated that this announcement soon for the sake of transparency.
“If I decided to make this announcement today, it is first to be honest with the voters, but also towards myself”, she said.
“I found it extremely important to announce to my citizens as soon as my decision was taken,” she added.
This district draws attention from the member of the parti québecois Nicole Léger announced that it will not seek a new mandate at the general elections next fall. Ms. Léger has been elected for the first time in 1996. Pointe-aux-Trembles has always been in the hands of the PQ since its creation in 1988.
