Power supply : 38 % of students eat for less than € 5 per day

Since 1 October, the personal housing aid (APL) dropped 5 euros for all beneficiaries. Among the 6.5 million households, approximately 800 000 are students.

After the announcement made on 12 July by Bruno Le Maire and Gérald Darmanin, ministers of the Economy and of the Action and of the public Accounts, the reactions were sharp from the students. On social networks, they have been many, to show that 5 euros could represent it in their budget, including food.

For many of them, it would seem that this amount represents a day of food. A survey Opinion Way, conducted for the SMEREP, suggests that 38 % of students spend 5 euros per day, or less, to feed.

Belt-tightening or a figure exacerbated by the controversy around the reduction of APL, this share is significantly increase since last year. In 2016, they were, in fact, that 22 % to spend this amount on a daily basis, which is almost two times less.

On average, a French student spending 9 euros to feed in 2017. A figure in decline : in 2016, they came out 10 euros per day to their portfolio for their daily meals.
