QUEBEC – Quebecers have considered spending more on their renovations in 2017, but less than their canadian counterparts.

“You can feel it, there is a craze for the renovation,” explains Alain Ouellet, president at Lark Construction, a company specializing in the expansion of residential.

“A client has preferred to add a floor to his residence to make a bigénération, than to buy two paired up and have to pay two lots” quote there as an example.

According to a survey conducted by CIBC, the envisaged budget on average by Quebecers for their renovations in 2017 was $ 8445 $, an increase of more than $ 1000 compared to 2016. If the expected amount tends to increase, it is still below the rest of Canada, where we planned to invest 11 795 $ on average. The main reason to renovate is to combat the deterioration.

This, unsurprisingly, are the renovations of the bathrooms and kitchens that make the grade.

“This is normal, the kitchen it is there that we meet, we eat there three times a day, it is the central place of the house,” said Isabelle Picard, owner at Signature Sioui.

“And people see the beautiful kitchens in magazines and tv shows, then they ask for quality materials,” says interior designer at Signature Scribner, Stephanie Massouty.

Encountered at random by the TVA News on the sidelines of the salon Expo Habitat Québec, several people claimed to have invested substantial amounts, of several tens of thousands of dollars to put their home on the taste of the day. An amount that is far from surprising Olivier Fontaine of the companies in Hillman. “Why buy new when you can renovate? The courses are expensive, people prefer to put it to their taste than to buy new.”
