OTTAWA | smoke alarms two sensors of the company Kidde are the subject of a recall because of a potential risk related to security.

Are affected by this recall detectors PI2010CA and PI9010CA two sensors (photoelectric and ionization), manufactured between September 10, 2016 October 13, 2017. They are fitted with a yellow cap that is visible from the opening on the side of the detector.

“A yellow protective cap may have been forgotten on some of the two dual sensors of the relevant products during the manufacturing process, which could jeopardize the ability to detect the presence of smoke alarms,” said the company.

About 40 000 of the recalled products were sold in Canada, but on march 7, 2018, no incidents or injuries had been reported to the company.

Consumers should contact Kidde for information on how to check for the presence of a yellow cap and the need to seek another detector. They can do so by phone at 1 833 551-7739, or on the website of the company.
