“It really requires that the prime minister is disconnected from his own region. Either he does not speak with his constituents, he talks to them, but do not listen to them”, commented the spokesperson caquiste in the field of education, Jean-François Roberge.

An overwhelming majority of the residents of the county of the prime minister Philippe Couillard would prefer to lower school taxes, as proposed by the CAQ to the one preferred by the LIBERALS, revealed in an internal survey in which our parliamentary Bureau has obtained a copy.
According to the stroke of the probe conducted last week by the firm Mainstreet at the expense of the party of François Legault, more than 70 % of the electors of the electoral division of Roberval would “strongly” or “somewhat agree” with the idea of standardizing the school tax rate at the provincial level, as suggested by the Coalition avenir Québec.
Recall that the draft act 166 filed last December by the liberal government of Philippe Couillard is also planning for a single rate of taxation for school, but on a regional basis, starting in 2018-2019.
Couillard “disconnected”
“It really requires that the prime minister is disconnected from his own region. Either he does not speak with his constituents, he talks to them, but do not listen to them”, commented the spokesperson caquiste in the field of education, Jean-François Roberge.
His party proposes to set, anywhere in Québec, a rate of taxation based on the area where the school taxes are the least expensive, is that of the Laurentians, with 0,1054 $ per $ 100 of assessment.
In the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, for a home of $ 280,000, the CAQ believes that the economy would be 520 $ with their mode of taxation, compared to the formula proposed by the PLQ.
“This is the sound of a bell that we had people from the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, most likely, it is a position that would be shared by people from many other regions”, believes Mr. Roberge.
614 respondents
The survey commissioned by the CAQ was conducted on 14 and 15 February, with 614 residents of Roberval aged 18 years and over. The margin of error is +/ — 3,93 %, 19 times out of 20.
The draft law on the reform of the taxation system of the school is currently in the detailed design phase.
Re-launched on Tuesday by François Legault on the taxation school, Philippe Couillard, has denounced the proposals of the CAQ in education, which, according to him, “are attacks from the front against the regions of Quebec.”
“To propose the abolition of school boards, it is a frontal attack on the autonomy of the regions,” said Mr. Couillard, in the blue Room. […] What he said is that it is necessary to put $ 700 million more in cuts to school taxes) […]. Me, I prefer to put it in student success,” said Mr. Couillard.
