Paleontologists have discovered in a piece of amber feather dinosaur and prehistoric tick, grasp it. Age spider-like animal is about 99 million years, reports The New York Times , reports Rus.Media.
A group of scientists found the parasite, exploring a private collection of amber from Northern Myanmar.
“This is the first time we find ticks with feathers of dinosaurs”, – quotes the edition of American entomologist David Grimaldi involved in this study.
The researchers came to the conclusion that the host of the parasite, most likely, was a young flightless dinosaur-sized Hummingbird that lived in the tree. It is assumed that the mites inhabit the nests of prehistoric reptiles and drank their blood.
11 December 2017 it was reported that Mongolian archaeologists have discovered a new species of dinosaur, called Halszkaraptor escuilliei.
