A team of scientists from the European MULTILATERAL project stated that language learning is not associated with the left hemisphere of the brain, reports Rus.Media.

In 1968, when there were carried out experiments “in vitro”, the theory that communications and the ability to become a polyglot meets the left side, advanced by neurologist Norman Geschwind. After almost 50 years, his opinion refuted, using the method of magnetic resonance imaging to study areas of the brain. The asymmetry of the planar temporary part where there is the hearing function, it is no indication of when the left hemisphere with the ability to learn the language.

The number of volunteers involved in the studies was 287. According to lead author Natalie Curio-Mazoyer, employees of the Institute for neurodegenerative diseases at the University of Bordeaux, is the first job where there were so many individuals who have studied the brain. Most do the left hemisphere is responsible for language processing, however, were those in which this function is performed right. upon review of the data, the researchers concluded that it is impossible to say exactly which part of the brain can do the language.
