Scientists from the U.S. the studies were able to determine the cause of global climate change in the Arctic, reports Rus.Media. As it turned out, the reason is a large number of radium-228.

The new study was published on 3 January 2018 in the journal Science Advances. The composition of the research group includes scholars such as Lauren Kipp, Matthew Charet and Paul Henderson (WHOI), Willard Moore (University of South Carolina) and Ignatius Rigor (University of Washington). Scientists were able to determine that the Arctic has increased the number of radium, due to which dramatically changed the climate.

It is reported that the substance radium-228 is not only the glaciers, but also in the waters of the Arctic ocean. This affects not only marine life, but also on the ecosystem as a whole.
