Scientists from Tatarstanskogo University in South Africa and the European research facility ESRF in France came to a rather unexpected conclusions about what part of the body plays a major role in attracting a mate of the opposite sex.

The researchers were guided not by traditional notions of human beauty, and the mechanisms of evolution, reports Rus.Media.

So, according to paleontologists, the secret of sex appeal lies in the beautiful and healthy teeth. The researchers analyzed the evolution of the jaw bones and came to the conclusion that this part of the body first started to be used as a tool to attract females ancient dinosaurs 300 million years ago.

These animals are used the fangs to show his power during the battle with competitors. In reality, however, their teeth were too weak to use them to cut the throat of the enemy. Therefore, the canines of ancient reptiles was not the means of self-protection and a way to attract the attention of females to leave offspring.

By analogy with animals, the researchers analyzed the evolutionary mechanism of formation of maxillary bones in humans. As a result, they came to the conclusion that our modern face shape is the result of natural selection on the basis of sexual attraction.

Paleontologists stress that the teeth are very weak and sensitive, so they can be used for protection from predators. But in the process of evolution we have formed and the shape of the jaw, which enjoyed the greatest success with the opposite sex.

Now considered attractive smooth, white teeth, symmetrical teeth. Scientists suggest that the jaw – a potential signal of the opposite gender that the person is healthy and ready for reproduction.
