Reconstruction of the voice of the Tyrannosaurus was based on the sounds of birds and alligators, the closest relatives of dinosaurs, reports Rus.Media.

Birds probably evolved from a group of carnivorous bipedal dinosaurs. In turn, the crocodiles and alligators, and dinosaurs belong to archosaurs. Researchers used the voice of a large bull and the sounds of Chinese alligators, and when they made an adjustment for the size of a Tyrannosaurus Rex, reconstructed on a computer, the roar reminded low rumble that heralded the approach of a predatory dinosaur in the famous “Jurassic Park”.

According to the researchers, the Tyrannosaurus is unlikely roared like modern predatory animals, however, the ominous sounds he could make, not opening the mouth. This low-frequency “growl” could be heard from a distance that was necessary for communication with other tyrannosaurs.
