An attendant to the beneficiaries of the hospital of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, who allegedly filmed and sexually assaulted some women was arrested Tuesday for a series of offences of a sexual nature.

Andre Tougas, aged 53 years, has appeared in the afternoon at the palais de justice in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu under charges of sexual assault, voyeurism and child pornography.

The investigation conducted by the crimes section major of the Sûreté du Québec seeks to show that between 2012 and 2017, Tougas would have “taken advantage of his status as an employee in the hospital field to commit sexual assault on its victims”.

“It would also be delivered to the voyeurism in producing visual records of women who find themselves in circumstances for which there was a reasonable expectation of protection of private life”, said the Sûreté du Québec in a press release.

What’s more, the search carried out at the home of the suspect allegedly found the pornographic material juvenile.

Computer equipment was also seized in Andre Tougas, and it will be analyzed over the next few weeks. Other charges could possibly be brought against him.
