    MONTREAL – The maintenance employees of the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) will vote Sunday on a strike mandate.

    The 2400 members of the Syndicat des transport de Montréal – CSN were invited to a general meeting at which its representatives would explain the stakes of these negotiations. Their collective agreement has expired since the 6th of last January, and “requests for decrease important” have been submitted to the union negotiators, according to what told QMI Agency on Saturday.

    “There are elements that are more sensitive, which will be explained to the members before the vote,” said a source who wished to remain anonymous, adding that “this is not to say that it’s going to hurt the negotiating table”.

    “The union remains confident of obtaining a negotiated agreement,” said the source.

    Up to now, the parties have held a thirty trading sessions.

    The maintenance staff represented by the union shall appoint consisting of mechanics, trades people and maintenance of the stations and garages.
