The hypothetical “dark force” of the cosmos can move swarms of invisible matter and forming small structures.

According to astrophysicists, it can swim freely in the milky way and other galaxies, reports Rus.Media .

If dark matter are of similar strength, it can not only forming clusters around galaxies, but also break into smaller – just as ordinary matter is compressed into stars and planets.

In fact, thousands of small clumps of dark matter can wander the Milky way and be 1/10 of the total mass of a hypothetical substance, which surrounds the galaxy, according to the study published in the journal Physical Review Letters.

Dark matter is a necessary element to explain the mechanics of the movement of stars in galaxies. Without the presence of an additional source of mass, astronomers find themselves in a difficult position, because the visible (through telescopes) matter cannot explain the speed with which stars move. Observational data forced scientists to assume the existence around galaxies in a spherical “halo” of invisible particles.

A comparison of the movement of galaxies today and in the distant Universe (10 billion years ago). Observations have shown that in the young Universe “dominated” Baronne matter (normal). Today the influence of the dark matter that keeps the stars in a pile at high speeds of rotation in galaxies is stronger.

Now researchers are beginning to think that halo is only part of the story. “In fact, we don’t know what makes dark matter at smaller scales,” says physicist Matthew Buckley, who is the co-author of the study is “More complex structures can hide inside the halo.”
