The expert estimated the chances of Lombardy and Veneto to autonomy from Rome
Experts in the field of political science has decided to evaluate the chances of the Italian regions of Lombardy and Veneto to autonomy from Rome. Apparently, such claims do have a place to be, because local authorities have long been hatching a plan for independence and have fairly serious arguments.
Associate Professor of European law at MGIMO Nikolai Toporin assessed the situation and determined that the province is really interested in much more financial autonomy. At the moment a third of the Treasury of Italy is formed precisely by Veneto and Lombardy, because of their desire not to encourage economically as they note, “the dependency of the South” is quite natural.
“The chances they do have, and also because the referendum does not violate the Italian Constitution. From the country they are not going to stand out, but only while a review of the financial power before to centralized authority. Now local government has a number of arguments with which to appeal to Rome, “said Toporin.
Domestic experts believe that the holding of so-called “consultative referendum” they will not stop and therefore will continue to achieve gradual expansion of its authority. The question at this point is, what part of the autonomy they are allowed to do in the Central government.
