DOLBEAU-MISTASSINI | The liberal Party of Canada has won the by-election for the successor to Denis Lebel, the riding of Lac-Saint-Jean after a hot struggle against the Bloc quebecois, Monday night.

The charm led by prime minister Justin Trudeau – come to lend a strong hand to his candidate for two days last week – has borne fruit.

Richard Hébert had a significant lead of over 4000 votes in each of its rivals. At the time of going to press, he had obtained 38.1 per cent of the vote.

The curator Rémy Leclerc, ex right arm of the mp outgoing Denis Lebel, used to harvest about 25 % of the vote, while the neo-democrat Gisèle Dallaire, second during the general election of 2015, had 11.8% of the vote. The green Party closed down the market with approximately 1.3 %.

The region of Lac-Saint-Jean has not been represented by a liberal since 1980. At this time, the leader of the party was none other than Pierre Elliott Trudeau.

    Put the package

The four major federal parties, however, had already put the package to win the by-election in Lac-Saint-Jean. The prime minister has taken an important place during the election campaign, appearing on posters of Richard Hebert. He was the only one to find the sides of his candidate, while the other three main parties have rather put the focus on their candidate.

Justin Trudeau has spent two days in the county, during which he has taken part in several baths of the crowd. He visited the main cities of Lac-Saint-Jean, with his wife, Sophie Grégoire, and their son, Hadrian.

The county of Lac-Saint-Jean is one of those which have the largest area in Canada. More than 100 000 people live there, of which 85 000 voters spread out in thirty municipalities.
