The parents of Alexander Bissonnette, who is accused in connection with the slaughter of the mosque of the province, entrusted for the first time in a letter that they have sent to the media.

Alexandre Bissonnette is charged with the murder of six persons from the muslim community, attempted murder in respect of five other people and attempted murder with a restricted weapon in respect of thirty-five people.
“Alexander is our son that we love and will always be a part of our family,” the couple writes in the letter obtained by TVA Nouvelles. Like all parents, we hope to see him succeed and be happy in life.”
“In a sense, we have also lost a son,” added the parents.
The couple claims to have wanted to wait until the end of the celebrations of the event before their first public statement.
The couple visit their son weekly, but he does not know whether he will attend the trial of their son for 27 years.
The trial of Alexander Bissonnette must unfold from march 26 and could be spread out over two months. The accused still enjoys the presumption of innocence ; the procedures are still not at the stage where the accused has had the opportunity to file his plea of not guilty and dispute the charges.
