As the leak occurred at the corner of Sherbrooke street, the water rushed down the slope towards Ontario street. Because of the polar cold which prevails in the metropolis, the thoroughfare has been transformed into a real ice rink.
Twenty vehicles were stuck in ice for several hours.
The incident has given rise to a wave of solidarity among the residents, who have helped each other to clear the booby-trapped cars.

The water leak would have started around 4: 30 Saturday morning and had still not been filled at the end of the afternoon.
