Since 2006, the library of Congress of the United States kept every “tweet,” users of social network Twitter in the United States.

However, the library management decided to change the rules from the first of January of the coming year. So, because of the innovations in politics, social network and increase the number of printed characters twice, the library will keep only records relating to political issues. In addition to increasing the available printed characters, increasingly, Twitter users began to post photos or videos and save them without the media doesn’t make sense.

All tweets stored since 2006, will be archived and placed in the backup folder, in case they may be useful to assist law enforcement or political bodies.
