Thieves remove copper from streetlights to Granby

GRANBY – Town of Granby, in the Montérégie region, facing for the past few weeks a series of thefts of copper occur in some parks and residential areas of the municipality.
The robbers would have removed the copper wires, in particular of the park’s street lamps Odyssey, and all of those located on the street of the Hazel tree. We speak of damage estimated at about $ 5,000, explained Guy Rousseau, spokesperson for the Service de police de Granby.
The police requests the help of citizens
The police of Granby request the assistance of the public to obtain information pertaining to these incidents in the past couple of weeks in the area of lake Boivin.
“If you witness people who seem to be electricians, and who work night or evening on one of the streetlights in your neighbourhood, contact us. This is not normal! Our electricians never work in this kind of conditions,” said Mr Rousseau.
