THREE-RIVERS – The murderer and dangerous offender, said Jean-Guy Colbert fails in his attempt to obtain permission to leave the penitentiary.

In a fit of jealousy, the man of Three-Rivers now, at the age of 75 years had strangled his wife in 1982.

“You pose a high risk of general and violent recidivism,” notes the parole Board of Canada in its decision about Colbert.

“You have made no progress observable and measurable in nature to reduce the risk of re-offending”, she adds.

In 1983, Colbert, was sentenced to life in prison. In 1995, he had been granted a parole, but had started to harass a former victim. He had again been arrested and convicted for sexual assault, criminal harassment and threats. It was then declared a “dangerous offender” so that he may have to finish his days in detention.

Jean-Guy Colbert may be regarded as a criminal of habit. He had committed his first crime in 1956, is a robbery that had earned him three years in prison.

The parole Board remains firm and uncompromising in its place. Not only refuses him a total release, but she doesn’t even want to hear about a semi-freedom.
