RIMOUSKI – a Few hours before attending a solidarity march in the streets of Rimouski, the members of the Parti Québécois Harold Lebel, and Catherine Fournier went to the meeting of community organizations.
These discussions were held in the framework of the tour “Solidarity in action”, which aims to meet with these groups to find lasting solutions to poverty.
The Parti québécois expects firm foothold the action plan to combat poverty of the Quebec liberal Party planned for this fall. The troops of Jean-François Lisée intend to submit a counter-proposal in January in the form of a report. Among the priorities identified by the PQ, we can note the recognition of the organisations of community action, the increase in the number of housing units financed, and the phasing in of the minimum wage to$15/hour.
“The solution is to stop working in a silo. Say that when one speaks, it is from our elders. When we speak of the right of women, you only talk about women. The youth, community housing, etc When it works like that, we do not have an overall vision. Need to break this mold. When one speaks of poverty, it is necessary to include all these groups in reflection and in action.”
A government of the Parti québécois réinjecterait $ 200 million in the mission of community organizations. It should also be a policy to fight food waste.
