    Uber temporarily stops its tests with autonomous cars following a fatal accident involving one of its vehicles.

    The pilot projects established in San Francisco, Pittsburgh, Phoenix and Toronto are suspended for an indefinite period.

    A woman was killed by an autonomous car of Uber in the course of the night, as she was crossing the street in Tempe, Arizona. A driver always sits behind the wheel of these autonomous cars.

    The victim died in the hospital due to her injuries.

    “Our thoughts go out to the family of the victim. We are cooperating fully with local authorities in their investigation into this incident,” said Uber in an official statement released by CNBC.
