MONTREAL | The head of projet Montréal, Valérie Plante, promised on Saturday that it will invest in the cottages of park if the Montrealers carry it to power in the municipal elections of 5 November.

According to Ms Plant, several cabins of the park are abandoned, have limited opening hours or have the air permanently closed.

Projet Montréal would bring $ 7.5 million per year during its first mandate to renovate and expand the time slots of the cottages. To finance all this, the team of Valerie Plant would have to use the Fund for the development of sport and physical activity as well as in the québec infrastructures Plan.

Projet Montréal believes that sports, both summer and winter, must have access to the different cottages of the park during the same time slots as the playgrounds and other sports facilities, the training policy, recalling, by press release, that the cottages “are often the only way to have access to a toilet and a heated boot room”.

So no more chemical toilets in the summer and having to lace up their skates outside in extreme cold.

Projet Montréal is committed to “give the districts the resources necessary to reintroduce the post of park warden to secure and monitor the playgrounds, the sports facilities and the chalets”.

Valérie Plante would also like to see the cabins of parks serve as a space for socializing. Also, it proposes to implement biergarten – species restoration or the breweries in the open air on the way to Munich in Germany – in some green spaces.
