In front of the children present, the president of the Republic paid tribute to “the engaged of all professions” who have been growing this tree, have travelled, have upgraded and decorated. He stressed the creation of jobs and the French know-how at the origin of the symbol of 13 meters high, which adorns the courtyard of the Elysée palace for a few weeks.

The tree chosen was cut on the 25th of November last, in the operation of Montsauche-Les-Settons in the Nièvre before being transported by barge from Joigny, in the Yonne to the Port des Champs-Elysées. It is by horse-drawn carriage as it was transported to the presidential palace.

Away from the controversy triggered following the Christmas decorations chosen by Melania Trump to the White House, it is in front of the crowd amazed and excited that the presidential couple, already the height of its popularity, has unveiled the christmas tree. Under the applause of the crowd, the musicians of the Republican Guard belted out the traditional song My beautiful christmas tree.
