DAVOS, Switzerland | On the occasion of the world economic Forum meeting in Davos, Switzerland, prime minister Justin Trudeau has announced, Thursday, an investment of $ 180 million for the global Partnership for education, is intended to promote education in poor countries.
“Canada is committed to ensuring that young people from all over the world, particularly girls, receive the education they deserve. Provide a quality basic education is one of the most important things that we can do for children, and it is also the way to a world more peaceful, prosperous and equal for all,” said Justin Trudeau in a press release published Thursday.
This investment will be paid over the period 2018 to 2020.
For the periods 2011-2014 and 2015-2018, Canada’s contribution to the global Partnership for education was, respectively, $ 57.6 million and $120 million.
This announcement comes while the prime minister participated in a panel discussion on girls ‘ education with the activist Malala Yousafzaï, Pakistani girl who survived an assassination attempt by taliban, in 2012.
