SHERBROOKE | the sixth edition of The Wines of Sophie, which was held in Sherbrooke on Saturday, has raised $ 60,000 to help children with cancer in the eastern Townships.

Many physicians of the Centre hospitalier universitaire de Sherbrooke (CHUS) and business people have joined forces in order to embrace the cause of sick children.

Thanks to donations, two teens from the eastern Townships who have fought cancer have been spoiled by the organization. Florence Breton, a young 14 year old girl who has battled cancer of the thyroid gland, will be entitled to a new room. For its part, Elyjah Tricoire, who is recovering from leukemia, will realize the dream of his life, that parachute jump.

Dr. Yannick Poulin, pulmonologist, intensivist at the CHUS, strongly believes in the importance of giving back to the society. “I have a healthy child. The least of things, this is to help those who do not have the same chance,” he entrusted to TVA Nouvelles.

Since its inception, the Wines of Sophie have raised over $ 360,000. The amount is to be shared between Leucan Estrie, the Foundation Claude Durocher, who comes to the aid of people suffering from cancer and the Foundation, Justin Lefebvre who made the promotion of organ donation.
