When asked about the extraordinary experiences that his job has allowed him to accumulate, this giant does not know where to start.

Mr. Hendel has always been appreciated by his employees for the way he takes care of them.

The 45 year-old male began 23 years ago as a monitor of tennis at a Club Med in Mexico before becoming, at 26 years old, one of the youngest chiefs of a village that has known the tourist business.

“I spent part of my childhood in Saint-Édouard [near Napierville in the Montérégie region], to work the earth with other children,” says Hendel Duplessy. It is sure that next to it, the work of the Club seemed to me very easy. “

    Hard worker

Its success, Mr. Duplessy owes to its character as a worker and hyperactive, but also to his philosophy is the singular, which makes him one of the managers of the most appreciated company, well-known for its villages that are festive and their all inclusive packages.

“My secret, is to ask my employees to do what they love,” he says. If people are happy, they work well and you don’t need to do the discipline. “

This state of mind singular also allowed him to make many loyal friends among the customers of the Club.

The philosophy of Hendel in an image : work and pleasure.

“It has often happened to me to take people on a tour on my days of rest,” he said Duplessy. It is never an effort, I do it because I take pleasure. “

    Optimism

Even if it does not exchange its life against that of the person, Mr. Duplessy, who has managed for several years a village of 800 customers in Thailand, acknowledges that the life of village head is not made for everyone.

“It is a small town that I take care of 20 hours per day. He must have an eye everywhere and to know every customer by his first name, ” says the man. Some people ask me sometimes how I manage to keep the same enthusiasm throughout the year, but I made the choice to be happy since he was a small, and I would like. “

In its mission, this big guy with the infectious energy has a major asset : his ability to sleep very little without feeling tired.

    4 hours of sleep

“I do not sleep only four hours per night and that suits me very well,” he says. I know that this may seem surprising, but it is my pace, I’m doing the same. “

Today, Hendel Duplessy embarks on a mission of recruiter for the Club Med, which is looking to hire young Quebecers who want to work while traveling.

“I want to give these young people the chance that I had, summarizes the one who defines himself as “a merchant of happiness”. They will not necessarily have a career as long as mine, but anyway it’s an experience to try. “
