THREE-RIVERS | nurses who have taken part in two “sit-in”, the end of last week to the emergency department of the centre hospitalier de Trois-Rivières, might face sanctions.
In fact, the nurses who have refused to start their shifts so that they would not have a team of complete work may be subject to a fine of up to $ 150 and, even, to lose their seniority.
However, the administrative Tribunal of Quebec, which has for mission to ensure that the essential care to be maintained, may be forced to decide between the nurses and management about who is responsible for the situation. The management could be blamed for not having provided for sufficient staff per shift.
The union, which represents staff at the end of patience, plans to continue the means of pressure each time that it considers the patients in danger.
The nurses are calling for the closure of beds in the department of intensive care, centre hospitalier de Trois-Rivières. The number of patients is too high for the number of workers in the post, they support.
