The Office of the independent surveys (EIB) has opened an investigation concerning an event in which a woman in distress would have inflicted serious injury during an intervention of the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal.
The event occurred Thursday evening on the boulevard Rosemont.
According to information made public by the EIB, “towards 21: 00 Thursday evening, a lady [age 72 years] would have called 911 and requested police assistance because she was scared of a member of his family”. “The police officers would be presented on the premises and would have found that the lady was alone and in a state of intoxication.”
According to the EIB, the police reportedly offered the lead in a respite centre for the night and the lady would have accepted, but the centre would not have been able to accept it.
“The police have offered the lady to take her to the hospital, what she would have originally agreed to do, before refusing once on the road. The police officers reportedly escorted back to his apartment, where she would have taken a knife to stab to the abdomen.”
The woman was then transported to the hospital. His injuries are serious, but it does concern not for his life, said the EIB.
“The investigation of the EIB will determine if these reports are true,” said the Office of independent investigations, adding that nine of its investigators have been assigned to this investigation which will be conducted with the support of the Sûreté du Québec.
