Those who believed in the spring at our doors, will change its mind.
In fact, while nearly all of the snow accumulated on the ground since December has melted, the Montreal region will be affected by a new winter storm that will leave behind a thick layer of snow.
A low pressure system that goes up the east coast of the u.s., and returned continually to the west is expected to hit several sectors of Quebec, where it is anticipated heavy snow or blowing snow Thursday.
Taking into account the fact that the system bifurquera to the north-west, coming on its not from Maine, it is anticipated that 10 to 20 centimetres of snow will fall on the metropolitan area by Friday evening or Saturday morning.
It is at this moment that the system should come to die at the center of the province, although one cannot yet be quite certain of this conclusion, according to Éric Chatigny, Weather, and the Laurentians.
In all cases, blowing snow and poor visibility could prove to be more problematic than the accumulations total snow.
Elsewhere in Quebec
In the rest of the province, the two regions will be particularly affected by these intense precipitation events.
The Mauricie region (and particularly the area between Trois-Rivières and La Tuque), first of all, could receive 20 to 25 inches of snow.
However, it is mostly on the side of Charlevoix that should save the largest accumulations: we expect nothing less from 25 to 45 centimetres of snow.
Here, too, the blowing snow and poor visibility could be extremely problematic.
Caution on the roads will be, as usual.
