At Subaru, the future doesn’t seem to go through the manual transmission. This is what can be read on Auto Express after one of the journalists of this media uk spoke with Chris Graham, a manager at Subaru, on the sidelines of the motor Show of Geneva.
The reason is simple. On the side of this japanese manufacturer, there is a lot of emphasis on safety. And the security is to system Eyesight, which is, for the moment, not compatible with a manual transmission.
For the uninitiated, Eyesight is a system of driving assistance package which includes adaptive cruise control, braking précollision, the management of the acceleration précollision as well as the alert sway and deviation of the trajectory.

On some vehicles, the vocation of which is to make it mindlessly from point A to point B, the elimination of the manual transmission will not create an uproar.
However, if Subaru removes the manual transmission vehicle-oriented driving pleasure, like the WRX, WRX STI and even the BRZ, fans are likely to mount the barricades. What’s more, the WRX STI is currently available with a six-speed manual transmission which is paired with a four-cylinder 2.5 L turbocharged engine.
