Ford recalls 1.38 million cars in North America for a problem of the steering wheel

The car manufacturer Ford announced on Wednesday that it recalled approximately 1.38 million vehicles in North America for a risk of dropping out of the steering wheel, already at the origin of the two accidents.

The affected vehicles are sedans Ford Fusion assembled in its plant in Flat Rock (Michigan) between August 2013 and February 2016 and at the factory in Hermosillo (Mexico) between July 2013 and march 5, 2018.

The Lincoln MKZ meetings between 25 July 2013 and 5 march 2018 for the plant to Hermosillo are also involved.

“In the vehicles affected, the bolt of the steering wheel can not maintain the torque, which may result in its loosening in time. If it is not tightened, the wheel can come loose and this could potentially lead to a loss of control of the car and increase the risk of an accident,” writes the brand to the blue oval in a press release.

Approximately 1.38 million vehicles are affected, including 1.3 million in the United States, 62 479 in Canada and 14 172 in Mexico.

The Ford dealerships are going to change free the bolt, said the automotive group, which also recalls in North America 6000 Ford Focus model years 2013-2016 and Ford Fusion model years 2013-2015 for risk of fire starting.
